PESHAWAR: The districts of Lower and Upper Chitral have reported 538 positive corona cases by Aug 8.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19 on April 19 in Lower Chitral, five people have died of it, according to data released by the KP government.
However, there has been no death from the virus in Upper Chitral where the first case emerged on April 21.
The Lower Chitral district has so far registered 387 and Upper Chitral 141 confirmed corona cases.
As many as 305 confirmed patients have recovered in Lower Chitral and 104 in Upper Chitral. The others are under treatment or in home isolation.
The data compiled on Aug 8 said six and 13 cases were reported from Lower and Upper Chitral within 24 hours.
Currently, there are 77 active patients in Lower Chitral and 47 in Upper Chitral.
Though cases are still emerging, people of Chitral have started taking the disease lightly. Most of the recent positive cases were asymptomatic.
This situation prevails in almost all parts of the country. On the other hand, the government has decided to lift coronavirus related restrictions.
Besides, all tourist spots are now open while schools are set to reopen from September 15.
